Satya Pradeep

Artistic Director

Nritya Saagaram Dance Academy

A premier school of Bharata Natyam and Kuchipudi in Long Island, New York. Trained in Chennai under Guru Kamala Narayanan and Guru Rhadha, Satya follows the tradition of Bharatanatyam in the Vazhuvoor style. She trained under Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam in the Kuchipudi style and continues advanced training under Guru Sathyapriya Ramana in India.

Satya has given numerous solo and group performances. Along with her students she has conducted several lecture demonstrations and dance workshops at public and private schools through the Nassau Boces and the Huntington Arts Council. She has also been invited to perform at museums, libraries, residential facilities (Assisted Living) and at various cultural organizations. She has extended the outreach of these dance forms by presenting educational and enriching programs.

Satya has performed at prestigious venues such as the United Nations, Newark Symphony Hall, Schimmel Theater at Pace University, Long Island University, Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Long Island Multi-cultural festival. She has also performed and taken part in panel discussions at the Long Island Women’s Diversity Summit and at the Annual Multicultural celebrations held by the Asian American Cultural Circle of Unity.

Satya is invited annually to teach at the Long Island High School for the Arts where students indulge in an interactive session on the similarity and difference in both Eastern and Western Classical Dance forms.

During the pandemic, Satya learnt to change her teaching style, without compromising on the technique and learning process. She learnt to explore alternative pedagogical approaches and have conversations with the students and teach them the importance of individuality through online classes and in person classes.

She is also an active member at the Long Island Dance Consortium. A cultural organization composed of dance presenters, professionals, companies, advocates and art councils
